How does cosmetic acupuncture work?
Acupuncture needles stimulates the blood flow to the face, improving the quality of the skin. Facial needling causes microtraumas of the skin, sending fibroblasts to the needling sites that form collagen and elastin. Boosting collagen and elastin under the skin and nourishing facial muscles, creates healthier skin and a radiant appearance. Cosmetic Acupuncture is not a one time treatment. The treatment process consists of several consecutive sessions and includes maintenance sessions, depending on the condition of your skin. Additional tools for cosmetic acupuncture are Gua Sha, Facial Cupping and Dermarollers.
facial GUA SHA
Gua Sha is the gently rubbing of the skin with a smooth-edged instrument, usually jade, in short or long strokes to stimulate blood circulation of the soft tissue and break stagnation. The stimulation of the acupuncture points on the face with the Gua Sha tool in turn also benefits the internal organs. This procedure increases blood flow to the skin, smoothes out wrinkles, improves sagging and puffiness, and promotes healing. Facial Gua Sha can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, melasma and dark circles. It is relaxing, effective, and gives the face a noticeably firmer, radiant, and rejuvenated look and feel.
First, a basic oil (jojoba or argan) is applied homogeneously to the face. Then, facial suction cups are moved over wrinkles and fine lines to increase the blood flow on the specific area. The facial suction cups are also moved along the face and neck area to drain lymphatic fluid and stimulate local blood flow. This movement increases blood circulation to a specific area, evens out complexion and color as well as enhances absorption of lotions and serums applied to the face and neck. Some benefits of this treatment include reducing puffiness and dark circles, and it can also be used on rosacea, melasma and for relieving sinus pressure.
The Dermaroller is a tool that consists of approximately 540 extremely fine needles. It is a non-invasive procedure and is gently rolled on the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Stretch marks, wrinkles, fine lines, and uneven skin are stimulated to repair damaged skin.
